[IBU] Anyone use a water filter?

I haven't bought anything for my home-brewery lately, so I started doing a little research on whole-house water filters.  It seems like several people on the various online forums recommend using a carbon block filter to remove chlorine and chloramine.  The water in Ames is pretty good, and I've been treating my mash and sparge water with 1/2 a campden tablet but that's it. 
 
Do any of you use one of these filters and notice any improvement in your beer?  Also, if you use a filter, what brand and model is it?  I picked up an Omni U25 from Walmart to do a little testing with.  It was only $27 so I'm not really out much if I decide it doesn't really make a difference.
