[IBU] hops

I grew Cascade, Centennial and Willamette last year.  Centennial was by
far the best grower.  It seemed to do really well in the hot humid Iowa
climate.  We'll see what year #2 brings and how well the Cascade and
Willamette grow.

I have had better luck with homegrown hops using them for flavor and
aroma since the alpha levels can vary quite a bit.  I think they can
still be in a range that would make them usable, though.   I think I
would recommend starting with Cascade, Northern Brewer and maybe Mount
Hood.  I don't know if Willamette's will grow here or not, but there is
talk of them being just about non-existent over the next couple years.
 
While we are on the subject, if anyone has any varieties of whole hops
or hop plugs they don't have a use for I could sure use some if they
were reasonably priced.
