ENTRY DEADLINES FOR 2008 FAIR

Oenology exhibits will be open to the public in the Agriculture Building from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. each day of the Fair.
JUDGING: Wine entries will be judged on Saturday, July 26; and beer entries will be judged on Sunday, July 27.
RULES
1. SUBMITTING ENTRIES. Entries may be made online at www.iowastatefair.org/entry<outbind://1/www.iowastatefair.org/entry>. Entries may also be made on the form available online at
www.iowastatefair.org<outbind://1/www.iowastatefair.org>. Complete entry form and return it with full payment of all fees to: Iowa State Fair, Iowa Family Living Department, P.O. Box
57130, Des Moines, Iowa 50317-0003.
2. ENTRY DEADLINE IS JULY 1. Entries must be submitted online or postmarked on or before July 1.
3. ENTRY FEE. Each exhibitor, as a requirement for entry, shall pay a fee of $3.50 per entry (one bottle for each wine entry, two bottles for each beer
entry).
4. LATE ENTRIES. Double entry fees will be charged for all entries submitted online or postmarked July 2 - July 8. No entries will be accepted after
July 8.
ENTRY ELIGIBILITY
5. Exhibitors are limited to four exhibits in each class, per household; but each exhibit must be significantly different in style, taste or ingredients.
Exhibitor must not be affiliated with commercial beer or wine making.

ENTRY TAGS
7. Entry tags will be mailed to you to be completed and placed on wine/beer bottles. The more information that can be given about the entry on the entry
tag, the more accurately it can be judged. It is important to completely fill out the entry tag. Entries without tags cannot be judged.
8. All wines and specialty beers must list major ingredient (type grape, type vegetable, type berry or mead).
DELIVERY OF ENTRIES
9. Entries must be delivered between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m., Saturday, July 19, to the Family Theaters Building, Iowa State Fairgrounds. If entries are being
shipped or delivered early, please address to: Iowa State Fair, Oenology Entry Department, Administration Building, East 30th & University Avenue,
Des Moines, IA 50317. Shipped entries must arrive by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18. No late entries will be accepted!
10. If entries are delivered to the Iowa State Fair Entry Department, please have the bottles packed in a box.
11. Shipped entries arriving late through no fault of the exhibitor will be judged only if the class has not already been judged.
JUDGING
12. Exhibits entered in the wrong class in the opinion of the judges will be re-classified. If the re-classification has already been judged, it will not be
rejudged.
13. Judges reserve the right to combine classes when the number of entries is insufficient. Judges' decisions are final.
14. Gold, silver and bronze ribbons will be awarded in place of premiums. Beer and Wine classes will also award 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons.
15. All entry scoring sheets and ribbons will be mailed to the entrants after the Fair. There will be no bottle pick-up after the Fair.
DISPLAY OF ENTRIES
16. Wine shall be in standard wine bottles, at least 16 ounces, with all labels removed and Fair entry tag attached. One bottle is required per exhibit and
shall be the homemade product of the exhibitor. Beer may be in 12 ounce or larger bottles with all labels removed. Two bottles required per beer
entry.
SHARING FEST
17. On Monday, August 4 at 6:00 p.m., the Oenology and Food Departments are hosting a "Sharing Fest" in the Family Theaters for all entrants in the
appetizer divisions and wine and beer classes. All participants are invited to attend.
LIABILITY
18. The Management will use diligence to insure the safety of articles after their arrival and placement, but in no case will they be responsible for any loss
or damage that may occur.
SPECIAL AWARDS
19. The Iowa Honey Producers Association will award one gallon of honey to the winner of the Mead class. This prize must be picked up during the
Fair at the Honey Producers exhibit in the Agriculture Building.
