[IBU] freezing point of beer

Not an engineer or lab rat, but I am a beer drinker that on occasion is
too lazy to put things away. I don't know what the temp is, but I do
know the alcohol has an effect. I had some beers in the garage during
the last cold spell. I had two light beers freeze and pop the caps.
The Fosters slushed up but didn't distort the can. The Celebration and
Old Scratch Barley wine were a bit over chilled for beer snobs, but none
the worse for wear.
One thing I have found out in the past that freezing beer doesn't
necessarily hurt it. If you thaw it back out slowly it seems to be OK.

I know I could probably google or wikipedia (is that a verb yet?) this
answer, but since we have so many engineers and lab-rats in the club, I
figured I'd stir up some e-mails with this: What is the freezing point
of beer, and does the alcohol content have a significant effect on it?
See y'all at DRAW!
Prost!
Mike
