Iowa Brewers Union Meeting Minutes
October 15, 2007
 
Meeting called to order at 7:10 PM by John Martin, President. 
September meeting minutes were approved. 
Treasurer’s report – We have some money in our account.  Details on distributed to each table. 
A motion was passed to move the elections for president and secretary from December to November.  If you have ever thought about holding office, this is your chance. 
There will be an American Homebrewers Association (AHA) Rally, in conjunction with Teach a Friend to Brew Day, at Raccoon River Brewing Company on November 3, 2007. Please pay Adam for any outstanding 2007/2008 dues and for the clothing order.  The PayPal account is ibutreasurer at gmail.com. 
A motion was passed to purchase the $50 gift certificate from Beer Crazy as opposed to Northern Brewer.  Beer Crazy is a new brewing supply and specialty beer store owned by club member Mark Naumann.  Grain, brewing supplies, and craft beer are available at Beer Crazy - http://www.gobeercrazy.com/.  Mark has offered to help promote the IBU through Beer Crazy. 
Anyone missing items from the IBU Octoberfest should contact Lauri Glassgow. 
Octoberfest cleanup was judged unsatisfactory by the Walnut Woods park ranger.  The club was assed a $15 penalty because of this.  There was discussion on how to avoid this, but no motions were made.  
The Brewer of the Month was Bill Stuart.  The style was Pilsner.  Others bringing fine malted beverages were: 
Rob Emerson - ESB 
Bill VanZante – NoCoast Brown 
Lauri Glassgow – Irish Red 
Brian Sabus – Scottish Wee Heavy 
Steve Becker – American Brown and Belgian Wit 
John Martin – English Summer Ale 
Mike Young – 22oz samplers 
Adam Draeger – Triple fermented at 80 degrees
A special thanks to Mike Gauthier from Court Avenue Brewing Company, Jeff Brunning from Full Court Press (el Bait Shop, Royal mile, etc.), and Dave Coy from Raccoon River Brewing Company, all of whom provided excellent beer for the Octoberfest.

The November Brewers of the Month are Doug Ley and Eric Armstrong.  The Style of the Month is Belgian and French Ale, BJCP category 16, 
The next IBU meeting will be Monday, November 19th, 7 PM at the Holiday Inn on Merle Hay Rd.
