Iowa Brewers Union Meeting Minutes
November 19, 2007
 
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM by John Martin, President.
October meeting minutes were approved.
Treasurer’s report – We have some money in our account, but not enough to buy Grolsch Brewery.  Please pay Adam for any outstanding 2007/2008 dues and for the clothing order.  The PayPal account is ibutreasurer at gmail.com.
 
The Brewers of the Month were Doug Ley and Eric Armstrong.  The style was Belgian and French Ale (Category 16 A - E).  Others bringing fine malted beverages were:
Brian Sabus – Scottish Wee Heavy
Lauri Glassgow – Smithwicks clone
Steve Becker –Brown
Mike Young – Misc Bottles
Randle Boyd – Snow Cougar
Jimmy Carter Happy Hour is booked through April.
Living History Farms Beer and Bread Sat Feb 23, 2008.  John Martin is chairing this event.  More details forthcoming.
Bacon Fest – Saturday March 1st, 2008.  Jeff Brunning is looking for some smoked beers, actually brewers to brew smoked beers, for this event. 
A motion was made and approved to hold the IBU open on March 8th 2008.  Ron Staab will chair this committee.  Assisting him will be Lauri Glassgow
Adam Draeger has invited Maureen Ogle, author of Ambitious Brew, to speak at the January meeting.
Mark Nauman presented us with his research on beer bottle weights, comparing twist offs with pry offs.  Fascinating stuff.
Adam Draeger offered up some 22 oz bottles.
Ron Staab was giving away back issues of Zymurgy.
Mike Edwards also has back issues of Zymurgy, for anyone interested.
Doug Ley had a heater for the taking.
Steve Becker had a regulator for sale for $10.

June meeting will be at Raccoon River Brewing Company.  We may also have meetings at Court Avenue and the Royal Mile.  Details forthcoming.
Next meeting and Christmas Party – Monday Dec 17th, 7:00 PM CST.  Please bring home brew.  However, appetizers will be purchased by the club.  There is even a possibility of door prizes. 
At 7:47 PM, general melee was declared.
