That is very interesting Randle. I hope to hear more about this at the
May meeting. Cheers!

Subject: [IBU] Home brew for Brew Fest

Over the weekend, I was in a conversation with Jeff Bruning, one of the
principals of the group that owns several downtown bars. He is very
interested in involving home brewers in el Bait Shop. He wouuld like to
pour about four would for the upcoming, June 23, brew fest.

He would also like to have a periodic special, at el Bait Shop, where he
would serve a keg of home brew, for free, during a certain period of
time, kind of like Firken. He of course would reimburse the brewers for
the cost of the ingredients. It doesn't sound like ingredient
reimbursement is included for the brewfest, but rather free admission to
the brewfest.

It appears that there are some details to be worked out. I just thought
I would go ahead and send this out to see if there is any interest. I
invited him to the May meeting, but as you can see in his response
below, he didn't quite confirm.

Cheers,

Randle

I would love to make it to one of your meetings soon. I would
like to throw one thing out, I want to pour around 3 to 4 homebrews at
our Brewfest on June 23rd. I just thought 3 or 4 people could brew up a
five gallon batches and could pour their beer at the festival and talk
to people about the beer. It would get them into the fest for free and
I think it would be a good time.

	Keep in touch.

	Thanks,
	Jeff

Jeff, we had a conversation Saturday, during Cyclo
DeMayo, about el Bait Shop doing something with home brewers. You
mentioned that you would like to have some sort of happy hour with home
brew and that you would like to have home brewers participate in the
upcoming Brewefest. As I mentioned, I am the Secretary of the Iowa
Brewers Union home brew club. Our next meeting is Monday, May 21st at
7:00 PM at the Holiday Inn on Merle Hay Rd. We would love to have you
come by and talk to us. There is already a large interest in the
brewfest. Your home brew happy hour idea will probably generate a lot of
interest also. Alternatively, we could try to get some members to el
Bait Shop for a DRAW (Drink Right After Work), an listen to your ideas.

		Cheers,
		Randle
