[IBU] Beerfest

Truly, if you weren't there you missed out!! I talked to several people and
I hope to see a lot of new people at the next meeting. Another side note to
the vendors there, check out Sutcliff Hard Cider. I found some at my HyVee.
These are local guys with a good product. Slightly drier and crisper than
the other stuff out there. Was great time and looking forward to next year.

I too had a great time and appreciate everyone's efforts to promote home
brewing and craft beer.

A big thanks to Mike Edwards for his work printing the handouts and beer
menus.

Adam, I have your bungee strap...it's in the canister with the two
banners in the back of my vehicle. We can swap the growler for the
bungee at the next meeting.

Cheers!

I had a blast at the beerfest too. One highlight was the private
tasting of Steve's (head brewer at Boulevard) Belgium (Triple, I
believe) that will not be released to the public until Sept.
I don't know who has the banners, but if there is a short green bungie
with the black tube, I'd like to claim it.
I also have the brewing sheets and business cards, I don't mind hanging
onto them, but I think they would be better off with somebody in DSM in
case a need would arise for someone to pick them up.
John Martin, I also have your growler....somehow was in my blue tub.
I also have a nice green crate, which I'm hoping nobody claims, because
I really like it and want to keep it.
...And in case people are wondering it costs $21 for two people to take
a cab from downtown to the east side of Pleasant Hill.

please remember your checkbooks or cash for dues ($25) and clothing
money if you haven't already paid me.
I also want to welcome Matt Braafhart, our newest dues paying member.
He brought a Amer. Wheat to serve at the brewfest as well.

until July 16th.

Just wanted to let everyone know that we had a great turnout at Beerfest
with a lot of people stopping by. I had to leave a bit early, so sorry
I wasn't there to help clean up! Big thanks to Steve, John, Lauri,
Matt, Adam and the two Brians for bringing the great beer!

Also, since we handed out a fair number of "business cards" with our web

address on it, I thought I should get a blurb up about the mailing
list. If you go to www.iowabrewersunion.org now, you'll see a link to
the mailing list archives/subscription page.

And while I'm thinking about it, we were thinking that maybe the club
could pay for a jockey box that we could use at events like this, and
members could use when they have special occasions, like weddings, etc.
Not sure if we should buy one flat-out or pay for the parts and build
one ourselves, but something worth considering for the next meeting.
(Personally, I think one with at least four taps would be nice, with
some sort of classy wooden bar-type wrap around it.)

Catch y'all later!
Mike
