The Ames Brewers League 5th Annual Mead Day
This years ABL Mead day will take place at Mark & Colette's house on
Saturday September 23th. In addition to mead we will be making cider and
perry. The crusher and press will be available if anyone wants to bring
fruit to press. We will probaly make a barleywine but I don't have a recipe
yet. If anyone has a good recipe they want to make send it to me and I'll
round up the ingredients.
I am going to smoke a pork loin and a turkey and we will have the grill
fired up. Additional snacks or side dishes while not required are
appreciated. And of course beer, cider and anything else for general
consumption.
As always there will be a bonfire at sundown. Camping is always will be
available. If you want to soak in the hot tub bring a suit.
The festivities will take place at Mark & Colette's 25405 Sand Hill Trail.
Take highway 30 east towards Nevada. The first gravel road east of I35 is
Sand Hill Trail. Turn south and go 1.5 miles. You will cross a bridge and as
you crest the hill past the bridge there is a large split foyer house with a
red barn to the south of it. Immediately to the south of the barn is a
gravel driveway that heads back west. Next to said driveway is a blue sign
that says 25405. Follow driveway west for ~200' and you will have arrived.
