Guten Tag! The IBU Oktoberfest is coming up on September 16th and we need your help! The Club will be buying a keg of German beer (probably Spaten), as well as cups, plates, napkins, etc., but this will be a potluck again and everyone is urged to bring a dish of some sort along. Here is what folks at the meeting last night agreed to bring:
sausages, slaw (Ken Broadhead)
charcoal (Scott Dennis)
dessert, kid food (Bill Van Zante)
chips, pretzels (Adam Draeger)
"some kind of German food" (Brian Sabus)
bratwurst (Randle Boyd)
sausages, cheese, crackers (Bob Olerich)
sausages, German potato salad, mustards (Mike Edwards)
We could also use the following:
jockey box(es) (BVZ has one and I might be able to get one)
soda/pop
ice
hamburgers
hamburger buns
brat buns
ketchup
other condiments
sauerkraut
red cabbage
desserts of some kind
It would also be good to have some games or other play stuff for the kids.
I could also use some help setting up that day. We can get the key to the place at 10:00am, and with people showing up around noon, that gives us a couple hours to tap the keg and get the oom-pah music going. And speaking of beer, we are technically only allowed one keg, but we have gotten away with several cornies of homebrew in the past. So long as we're cool about it, everyone is encouraged to supplement the beer supply.
Now, I know the Iowa-Iowa State game is that day, so if someone wants to bring a TV, they will have to also bring a satellite dish as it will be broadcast on ESPN--not a local station (the bastards). The amp I plan on bringing for the music has a tuner, so we will at least be able to have it playing on the radio and listen as the Hawkeyes crush the Cyclones! (I will now don my asbestos lederhosen...)
Prost!
